“Do I really need a toner?”
I often get asked whether a toner is really necessary. Surely between them a cleanser and moisturiser should do the job? Well, in my opinion, a toner really is a crucial part of a skincare routine.
For a start, it helps to remove any impurities that a cleanser misses. My cleanser is very effective, helping to deep clean pores and improve blood circulation. However, makeup, pollution and other toxins can be pretty stubborn, so a toner helps to ensure that every last trace is wiped away. A clean slate means that your moisturiser can penetrate more deeply and deliver more nutrients to your skin.
Of course, a good toner does far more than just cleanse; it should offer a multitude of other skin benefits too, including firming the skin, aiding cell renewal and helping to lock in moisture.
It took me a long time to hit on the perfect formulation for my toner. I wanted it to be gentle enough for all skin types, but offer a real boost of antioxidants and other nutrients. I’m pretty happy with the end result. It:

I won’t bore you by listing every ingredient here (although feel free to read the full ingredient list on the product page). The main ones to note are grapefruit and lime floral waters, oat peptides, naturally occurring hyaluronic acid and multi-fruit botanical extracts.
I find that a lot of people are put off toners because they have bad memories of tight, stinging skin after using one in the past. Unfortunately, it’s true that some toners on the market are far too astringent, and can leave skin feeling ‘stripped’. Ours is designed to be much gentler. It does refresh skin, but it also calms and soothes it, so is suitable for even sensitive types.
